What sets Mr. Alam apart as a mediator is his extensive litigation background. Before becoming licensed in Ontario, he practiced civil litigation, insurance litigation, and human rights law internationally. He later obtained his LLB from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and completed his articles at Diamond & Diamond and Bergmanis Preyra LLP, followed by practice at Misir & Company.
Since founding Alam Law Firm in 2009, Mr. Alam has built a boutique litigation practice focused on:
• Civil litigation and contract disputes
• Insurance litigation and coverage disputes

• Long-term and short-term disability disputes
• Real estate, construction, and property disputes
• Tarion warranty and homeowner disputes
• Estate and commercial conflicts
He routinely appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and regularly mediates disputes involving litigation, property owners and Tarion and private individuals.
This courtroom experience provides Mr. Alam with a practical understanding of litigation risk, evidentiary challenges, procedural strategy, and real-world settlement dynamics. As a mediator, he brings this perspective into the mediation room to help parties realistically assess their positions and move toward workable resolutions.
Mr. Alam brings a strong litigation experience and dispute resolution background to his mediation practice. He has represented parties across a wide range of civil, insurance, property, and construction disputes and has extensive experience with the realities of contested proceedings. This practical exposure allows him to guide parties through mediation with a clear understanding of risk, cost, timing, and outcome uncertainty.
His focus in mediation is not to revisit courtroom arguments, but to help parties reach informed, practical, and durable resolutions.
