Daisy holds aPh.D in Physics (Optics-Photonics) from the Centre for Research inPhotonics at the University of Ottawa, at the research group ofProfessor Xiaoyi Bao (Canada Research Chair in Optics and Photonics).Her doctorial thesis work involved the study of advanced laser lightscattering techniques in optical fibers, and their applications intelecommunications, optical fiber sensing, photonic computing,optical phase modulator technologies, as well as fiber-opticcomponents and technologies used in the aerospace and militaryfields. Daisy is the author of 5 peer-reviewed journal publicationsin prestigious scientific journals, and is an inventor of 3 patentsin the USA and Canada.

With an extensivetechnical background in physics and engineering, Daisy possesses athorough understanding of the science underlying her clients’technological innovations, and is able to communicate with inventorsat their high level of technical understanding. Daisy also hasexposure to working in laboratories and clean rooms around the world,and has obtained an extensive knowledge of advanced manufacturingtechniques and practices for various technologies. Being an inventorherself, Daisy also has a unique appreciation for the innovationprocess from the inventor’s point of view.

Daisy applies theknowledge and experience she gained during her time working atintellectual property law and patent agency firms, as in-houseintellectual property counsel in the tech industry, and working withleading scientists and researchers in academia and the start-upworld, to assist her clients in obtaining the broadest scope of IPprotection and resolution strategies.
