Margaret L.Waddell, LLM, Q.Arb. is a seasoned litigator, arbitrator and mediator. She hasa breadth of knowledge in a wide array of subject matters, the result of 35 yearsof experience in successfully prosecuting and resolving class actions, and complexcivil disputes. Margaret has acted as counsel on a variety of prominentand precedent-setting class actions covering a spectrum of practice areas includingcontract breaches, frauds, consumer protection, securities misrepresentation,institutional abuse, product liability and privacy breaches, often combined withmultijurisdictional issues.

Margaret hasa demonstrated ability to solve all manner of commercial conflicts, includingshareholder oppression, contract disputes, executive wrongful dismissals,injunctions, and insurance coverage issues. She is called tothe Bar in both Ontario and Alberta.

Margaret is aBencher of the Law Society of Ontario, a former member of the Ontario Civil RulesCommittee, the Past President of the Toronto Lawyers’ Association (2020/21),Past Chair of The Advocates’ Society’s Class Action practice group (2018/19),Past Chair (2015/16) of the Ontario Bar Association’s Class Action Executive, aMember (2016/18) of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Class Actions TaskForce on Multijurisdictional Proceedings, a member  of the OBA’s class action Bench & BarCommittee (2017 – 2019), on the Board of the Advocates Society (2003/06) whereshe was the Chair of the subcommittee on advocacy and practice in 2006.

In 2022,Margaret received the OBA Award for Excellence in Class Actions.  She has received accolades from ChambersCanada, Lexpert, Benchmark, Best Lawyers and Who's Who Legal.
